Dr. Kara Hume is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a Faculty Fellow at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. Dr. Hume has worked with children and young adults on the autism spectrum for almost 30 years in a variety of capacities, including a home program therapist, teacher, trainer, consultant, CrossFit coach, and researcher. She was a classroom teacher for seven years working primarily with students on the autism spectrum and is a Certified Advanced Consultant with the UNC TEACCH Autism Program. She and her team developed a series of resources for families, practitioners, and individuals with autism providing support and ready-made materials during COVID which have been downloaded more than 200,000 times and translated into 7 languages.
