John Strang, Psy.D.

Pediatric Neuropsychologist at Children's National Hospital in Washington DC, Founder and Director of the Gender and Autism Program
John Strang, Psy.D., pediatric neuropsychologist at Children's National Hospital in Washington DC, specializes in the care of neurodiverse gender-diverse youth. He is the founder and Director of the Gender and Autism Program, the first multidisciplinary clinical program for gender-diverse young people on the autism spectrum. He led the development of the international clinical guidelines for co-occurring autism and gender dysphoria. His research and clinical work are richly informed by the perspectives and voiced priorities of autistic and gender-diverse self-advocates. Dr. Strang is a faculty member with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Global Education Initiative and a member of the WPATH workgroup developing the new standards of care for transgender and gender-diverse children and adolescents. He has developed a suite of gender diversity assessment and self-advocacy tools for youth aimed at helping young people give voice to their gender experiences and gender-related needs.
